a loan to pay her debts
about a month after we married ages 60,58, she asked me if i would pay off a lot of her personal debt, with the promise that when her house sold the loan would be repaid. i used premarital inherited property as co- lateral and i paid her loans off. divorce was filed after one year of marriage when she had someone to lease/purchase the house, denying that the loan for her existed. Yea i know i messed up big time, yet i have a great paper trail and she admitted on interrogatories that two of the 9 debts were paid from the loan. I have heard of "reimbursement alimony", its good for short term marriages, bankruptcy proof, so i see it as a step in the right direction to get my money back. As of this last Saturday the house got a contract, but she lowered the price to such an amount that i cannot recover my loan monies. anyone have any experience with a solution?

Loan to pay ex-wife's debt
I suffered through something similar. Men can be stupid some times, can't they?
Basically, you're screwed. The trust you showed got thrown back in to your face bigtime, and you won't get over it quickly. Because, if you were like me, the money was enough to hurt me bad when it wasn't repayed. Somehow my failings at putting down the toilet seat 100% of the time equated to my ex being guilt free while twisting the knife in my back.
No hard feelings here, right? Right. It's been 13 years and I have recovered financially but not emotionally. This shit has kept my blood pressure high for a long long time.
Best I can say is, you're not alone. You've got plenty of company bro. Good luck.
