Things to do before...
1. Learn Russian language.
2. Learn about Russian culture, traditions, and history.
3. Get financial affairs in order. If your adjusted gross income is less then $50K a year, better get another job.
4. Visit Russia several times. Spend time in country. Get to know the people.
5. Study Russia immigration laws and regulations.
6. Know about your country's immigration laws and regulations.
7. If you don't have a social network inside Russia and in your own country, better develop these social networks.
8. Find THE ONE. Don't settle for anything less, regardless of what your emotions or hormones are telling you.
9. Invest alot of time to get to know your potential bride, family, and friends.
If you can't do the above then international dating is not for you.
Brad.

I dissagree
I think you are misguiding people. I did all most none of this and I have been married to Russian women for 12 years, I have many friends who married from Russian and Ukraine then did none of these. I still speak no Russian. Many women I met spoke English. About money, more money you make always helps, but I have lots of friends happily married who make way less than 50K Good advice, but by no means required.

Planning love, one step at a time
Imma thinkin, Brad is a bit of a planner, perfectionist, and will one day rule his house with an iron fist.
Brads got one way, but I always fail when planning is the action, and doing is what you one day want to get to.
Businesses fail if they take Brad's method. You have to get into the game and think on your feet. Let's say if you found that perfect woman for you, had her teach you Russian (over wine and food), worked together to make more money (over wine and food), meet her friends and establish them as your social network...see what I mean? Brad's way is not life. It is planning for life. The other way is life with a wife that you plan with. More fun. More alive. And the sex is never like 2 robots preprogrammed with a plan.

Things to do before travelling to meet a foreign woman
btherin, what you have described in preparation for meeting a foreign woman, Russian woman, is what A Foreign Affair provides for its clients. AFA provides translators, a network of knowledgeable people to support you, experience with both Russian and American Immigration laws.
Plus, they offer protection against being alone in a foreign land. Doing this alone is never wise. Why not spend a little extra to provide expertise and security to your foreign travels?
